The Nanny BM-03 baby breathing monitor is made by Jablotron, a European company with its own research and development team and production facilities. Available in New Zealand from Pacific GSM, it is an EU-certified Class IIb medical device suitable for babies from 1 kg, including low-birth-weight babies.
Nanny gives parents extra peace of mind by continuously monitoring their baby's breathing movements during sleep. Nanny monitors are used in hospitals and homes worldwide, and Pacific GSM has supplied Nanny breathing monitors to Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland for many years.
Nanny is a certified medical device that monitors your baby's breathing movements. It warns you that breathing has stopped or slowed, which may occur in young infants, for example due to SIDS, suffocation or illness. It does not replace proper childcare and supervision. Nanny runs a function test every time it is switched on. It is non-contact: the sensor pad sits under the mattress, emits no radiation and doesn't restrict your baby's movement. It runs on 2 x AA batteries and has no Wi-Fi.
How it works
Each time your baby breathes in, the green light flashes. If no breathing movement is detected for 20 seconds, or the breathing rate falls below 8 breaths per minute, the red light comes on and an alarm sounds so you can check on your baby straight away.
Standby mode
In standby mode the BM-03 keeps checking signals from the sensor pad. If your baby seems to have been placed on the pad but monitoring hasn't been switched on, it lets you know. That's a helpful reminder for busy parents and caregivers.
Room temperature and light sensors
The control unit has a room temperature sensor that lets you know if the room is getting too warm. An optical sensor detects day and night, so the indicator lights glow more softly at night to help everyone rest. Day and night mode switches automatically.
Night light and service-life reminder
A built-in night light makes it easier to check on your baby at night. The monitor also keeps track of its operating hours. If the sensor pad has probably passed its specified period of use, it gives 3 warning beeps during each automatic function test.
Nanny is a supplementary warning device. Always follow safe sleep advice from New Zealand health authorities.

Sensor pad made of high-quality plastic, resistant to moisture, distortion and the penetration of liquid.
